 The Supreme Court of India dismissed a plea seeking to disqualify Prime Minister Narendra Modi from elections for allegedly making hate speeches and violating the Model Code of Conduct during campaigning. The court also declined to entertain a petition seeking directions to the Election Commission of India to disqualify Modi for six years. The bench of Justices Vikram Nath and SC Sharma asked the petitioner if they had approached the authorities before filing the plea, and subsequently dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
